New ssd VERY slow start-up

I just purchased a Samsung SSD 850 EVO drive for a MBP purchased in April 2012 (OS 10.9.5). I used Disc Utility to migrate the contents of a 2010 MBP onto the new SSD. I then installed the SSD into the newer MBP. I have selected the startup disk in system preferences.

The issue is that when I select a restart from the login screen, it's very fast (restart in under 20 seconds). If I actually log in and then do a restart, I get the apple logo pretty quickly, but then have to wait over 5 minutes for the login screen to appear. TRIM is enabled, I've reset the PRAM, rebuilt permissions, but nothing seems to fix this issue. Any ideas?
