Can i stop an icloud restore midway and change to iTunes restore

HI guys.

i Have an new air2 and a VERY slow internet connection. Most of my backup has completed - 14 hours - but still waiting for my music to complete after 26 hours. Can I stop the restore and plug into iTunes on my laptop instead, can I do this without wiping the iPad or will I have to go back to the start, wipe everything then connect to iTunes and start again?

i Suppose an alternative would be to pause the restore and find a good high speed cloud connection?
