I transferred photos from our camera SD cards to iPhoto library and had created a slideshow and album.
The MAC did automatic updates and restarted and the photos have vanished from iPhoto library.
Any ideas where they have gone and if i can retrieve them?
Check your Time Machine backup.
i have never heard of time machine back up and just checked it now and it was not set up
What version of the OS do you have?
Look in your Pictures Folder. Is there an iPhoto Library there?
yes there is an iphoto library, i have found some photos saved to icloud photo stream but not all of them. i have no idea what OS it uses. As you can gather i am not that great with the MAC!
Click on the Apple Menu top left and choose 'About This Mac'
That will tell you want version of the OS you have.
Is there an app called Photos on there somewhere?

Double click on the icon for the iPhoto Library. What happens?
