I am trying to upgrade the memory in my recently purchased Mac Mini (mid 2011) This is my first Mac. I have run the Mac Crucial Memory scanner which says that 2 x 8GB is compatible with this Mac Mini the Apple website says 4GB in each slot is the maximum. Has anyone successfully put 16GB in total in thier Mac Mini and found it to work?

When the 2011 mac was introduced where were no compatible 8 GB sticks so 8 GB total (2x4 GB) was the maximum capacity. Not compatible 8 GB sticks are available and work. Apply does not typically revise the original specs for things like that.
