DVD burned on iMac only plays on iMac, not TV

I used memorex DVD+R and burned my movie as suggested by my one to one teacher. It plays on my iMac but will not play in my DVD player hooked to my tv.

How can I fix this? This is the first time I have ever done a movie.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

You made a "data" DVD and it will only play on a computer.

To burn a DVD that plays in a DVD player you need a DVD authoring app like iDVD or Toast from Roxio.
