Playing podcast over airplay issue

Howdy folks - looking for some guidance on this. I can screen mirror everything, via Airplay, from my iPad 2 running iOS 8.X (whatever the latest version is) on my beautiful 4K Sony TV (wish Apple would make one) except play a video podcasts. All I see is the spinning wheel. I can however play video off other apps such as the NYT app.
