how do you highlight text in Pages '09?

Many of the tech savvy users around here are baffled by the workings of this support community so you are certainly not alone. I and going to ask the hosts to relocate your questions here, where you should be able to get help.

Pages for Mac

By default, highlight on Pages '09 v4.3 is set to transparent. Select your text and then click the red-circled button in the image below to gain access to your highlight color of choice.
