"Closed" pictures in iphoto email

I often send pictures directly from iphoto by clicking on the email icon at the bottom of the library page. Its quick and easy but my pictures are sent as "open" rather than "closed" as most normal attachments should be received. I would like my mail recipient to receicve my pictures "unopened" Can this be done in iPhoto or do I have to send them the old fashioned way and "create" the enclosure. thanx.

djboothmaker:

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As far as I know going from iPhoto to Mail leaves them open. Haven't found a way to do it otherwise.
User uploaded file Do you Twango?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

It's so long since I applied this that it's taken me most of the day to remember the name:

Mail Iconizer is a plug-in for Mail

http://lokisw.com/index.php?item=MailAttachmentsIconizer

a $6 shareware that will display the attached files as icons (or "closed") rather than inline (or "open").

Only way to do it AFAIK, and it speeds up the display of mails, especially if the contain pdfs or EPS documents. Install it once, works ever after - at least it does for me.

There is a way to send them as plain attachments but it involves a couple of extra steps. Export to the desktop in the size you want to send. The use one of the freeware zip applications like Zippist or YemuZip to create a zipped wrapper around the image(s) file(s). Then add them to an email.

You can find those applications at VersionTracker.com or MacUpdate.com.
