iPhoto how to prevent website icons from being displayed with photos

A friend has an iMac and is using iPhoto to manage her photos. A lot of website icons are being displayed along with her photos. Is there a way to turn this off or do all of these icons need to be manually deleted? I am guessing iPhoto scanned her computer and imported these from cookies? I do not know which version of iPhoto she has. Thank you.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), I don't have access to her computer

This can happen if a system folder or application is inadvertently dropped onto the iPhoto icon, leading to the graphical elements being added to the Library. (iPhoto does not scan for anything). They need to be deleted manually. You can do this simply by finding the events they are in (as they will be grouped by import).
