Ghost emails appear sender unknown 12/31/69 after last update. Over 50 so far and cannot be deleted

IiPad iOS 8 last update. Had to delete many apps. Now have emails from unknown sender dated 12/31/69 which cannot be deleted and wrecking havoc with my memory usage. I need help.

Close the mail app first. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the app you want to close. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.


Now force restart the iPad. No data will be lost. To force restart the device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
