Open the Mac App Store and check for updates. If that doesn’t install a new-enough version of Safari, you need to upgrade the computer’s OS; try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, Safari can’t be updated any further.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading.
