I cloud to I phone 5C Time Issues

When I input an event in my icloud calendar it will show up as 3 hours later on my phone. I tried to change the time zone on my icloud calendar but then when i put in an event to start at 3 pm it showed it as starting at 1pm on the icloud calendar but correct on my phone. I am just confused and could use some help!
