apple tv gen3 won't update. tried: rebooting apple tv, rebooting my modem - nothing. tried test network/update software/restore - just get msg unable to access server. tried connecting to computer via microUSB - iTunes doesn't find device. help?

Is there an error when attempting to update? What firmware is currently running?
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
If on wifi try ethernet
If you are connecting to restore, make sure you follow the steps exactly (disconnect all cables, connect micro usb, reconnect power). Connect directly to computer. Try a different cable.
