My iPhone 5, which is over 2 years old, turns off when the battery charge gets down to about 30%. Can anyone give me a tip on why this happens and how to get longer charge life out of the battery?
iPhone 5, iOS 8.4, The phone is over two years old.
First, try recalibrating the battery meter:
1. Charge with AC adaptor for 30 minutes past 100% reading
2. Allow phone to run continuously until auto-shut off.
3. Charge again to 30 minutes past 100%.
If it still shuts down early, the battery may be failing, or other hardware problem. Take it to Apple for evaluation.
