Can Apple pay be use at any contact less pay point.
I Was wondering can Apple pay be used anywhere with a contactless pay option or does there need to be a specific Apple pay logo in place.

It must be an Apple Pay terminal with the logo.
Hi Peter
You can use Apple Pay at stores that support contactless payments.
"Use Apple Pay in these locations and everywhere else contactless is accepted"
"Look for one of these symbols at checkout:"
NB: "If you're in the UK and your purchase is more than £20, you might not be able to use Apple Pay at some merchants."
There is no requirement that merchants display the Apple Pay logo if they accept contactless payments (which includes Apple Pay).
I found it wouldn't work on the M6 toll.
But it apart from that, I've successfully used it at Brewers Fayre, Wetherspoons, Iceland, infact pretty much anywhere that accepts contactless.
Its still getting 'the gasp' though, both from cashiers and other members of the public in the queue.
Hope this helps 🙂
Yes, I may do that.
I seem to recall that toll roads and pre-pay petrol pumps might be a bit of a unique case, both for contactless and the 'preloaded' payment cards - I wonder if it's down to how they deal with authorisations (or lack thereof).
There might also also be an issue at some payment terminals that apply credit card surcharges, such as NCP. Apparently the virtual card number ranges used for Apple Pay in the UK are in the credit, not debit, card ranges and payment systems need specific programming to correctly identify card types.
Of course, this isn't really an issue in most cases.
My other half works for Waitrose, they have had this issue and just reprogrammed their checkouts to correctly identify card types. I guess the 'non-apple partner' retailers are not up with this yet...
Nevertheless, it's working great pretty much everywhere 🙂
I'm assuming you are in the UK as I am. I have found that Apple Pay didn't work on the contactless terminals at the B&M chain of discount stores, even though the attached debit card worked fine when used contactlessly (is that even a word???!! 🙂)
The terminal accepted the phone, and the passbook app showed the transaction amount, but after a second or so the transaction was declined.
I did ask on their Facebook page why this is but just got a generic "We are looking at accepting Apple Pay" reply.
So, the answer to your original post is NO, not everywhere!!!
It does work in most places where they have contactless readers, though. Even in countries where apple pay is not officially supported. Personally, I've used it in Mexico a few times and so far, every terminal that supported contactless payments took my apple pay just fine. That's four restaurants and a gas station so far (there aren't that many contactless readers in Mexico).
