max frequency

Hi, from what I've read, most people say that Coreduotemp is not particularly accurate.

I have the exact same "problem", I have a Core Duo 2.16. I don't use CoreDuoTemp often but I remember when I 1st installed it, version 0.8, I could then see my cpu frequency go down to 1.0 sometimes and almost always stay at 1.83Ghz except for cpu intensive tasks.

Now it stays at 2.17 and I can see it switch to 1.83 for less than a second every 45-60 seconds.

Maybe something changed with 10.4.8... I dunno.

i have exactly the same problem: MBP 2,16 Ghz and CoreDuo Temp sais 2,17 Ghz all the time.
I also have a widget installed: MiniStat 2 which does not use the kernel extention coredou temp use. The Widget always sais 2.2 Ghz...

Perhaps a kernal extention or 10.4.8?!

from what i've read about 10.4.8 it causes the processors to run more aggressively. although coreduotemp also doesn't seem to work properly for most people.

Hardware Monitor says the same: 2.2 Ghz all the time...

My battery also goes faster down in battery mode.

I think i have an answer:

do this in terminal:

while true; do sysctl kern.cpu_currentfreq; sleep 0.5; done

my one is kern.cpu_currentfreq: 1667

the most time....

So i think its a 10.4.8 problem and a speedit problem. CoreDuo Temp is not correct in 10.4.8...
