How do I repair the protective layer of my retina screen?

My MacBook Pro Retina (late 2013) has a black protective film over the entire screen. I guess I used a somewhat too abrasive cloth or the like, because part of that layer has come off, revealing the brighter glass surface underneath.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can it be repaired? Can I send it for re-coating, or replace the glass only?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Replace it the operative word. Have it examined at an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be free and you will be provided with a cost estimate.

Ciao.
