Sound drop out - randomly from iTunes playback

When listening to music I get random sound drop outs - from a hiccup to several seconds.


Mac Mini late 2012- 16GB, I7 - OS X 10.10.4

problem occurs both with ripped CDs as well as iTunes downloads.

Problem happens both when playing back via sound system using a DAC as well as using HDMI via the TV.


Any thoughts?
