unable to run home sharing on windows 10

I have upgraded to Windows 10 on my laptop and pc. Home sharing worked on both for a day and now it shows on the pc but has stopped working on my laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, no difference, I have tried logging on as administrator, no difference, I have logged off and back into iTunes and switched home sharing off and then on again. It shows on my pc but still not on my laptop.

Has anyone else had this same problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm having the same problem. I have Apple TV connected to an iTunes library on my Windows 10 PC that I use as a media server. Once I upgraded the OS I can connect for a bit but then it just goes to saying home sharing is off. I've done the same things you've done to no long-term success. I have found if I close out and restart iTunes then I can connect again but only for a bit of time. I got to play 2 songs this morning before it crapped out.

My home sharing is working OK now. I went into network and sharing centre, advanced sharing settings, home group connections and ticked - allow windows to manage home group connections and turn on network discovery. I shut the computer down, turned it back on, turned on home sharing in Itues and after about 5 minutes it came on and stayed on all day. When I turned on the computer this morning It came on as soon as I turned it on again.

Hopefully it's fixed. Good luck.

I had this issue as well, and it also affected AirPlay. To resolve this issue, I'm running iTunes in compatibility mode for Windows 8; this has reactivated home sharing and AirPlay capability, meaning it's definitely a bug in iTunes with regards to Windows 10.

Please try changing the compatibility mode (Right-click the iTunes icon, then Properties -> Compatibility -> Run in compatibility mode for... -> Windows 8) and see if that resolves your issue.

Had the same problem. On two of my windows 10 pc, the computer would not show up on itunes 12.

I went to the firewall settings and then clicked the allow an app through a firewall hyperlink in the top left corner.

You click change setting and check if bonjour is not ticked for public.

If it is not ticked enable the bonjour it and save you settings. Mine had it listed twice and just ticked both.

Tried again and now the other computer shows up.
