To make sure we are on the same page, you recently updated iTunes and it does not open. While that may seem strange, let's get to the bottom of it and get it working for you again so you can get back to your music.
I would recommend starting iTunes in Safe Mode as that is always a good starting point for troubleshooting iTunes. Take a look at the article below and start at Start iTunes in Safe Mode and work your way down.
