I was trying to upgrade my iMac 2008 2,4 GHZ from Office 2011 for Mac to the new Office 2016. The installation process stops.
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)
Office 2016 for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.10. (Yosemite), therefore it does not work in Mavericks
But I have 10.10.4 on my iMac

Ii will help avoid future confusion on that issue if you edit your equipment profile to reflect your current OS version. Gary based his answer on your equipment profile.
