Ive imported media from an external hard drive with thunderbolt connection. I said to leave the files in place. I don't want to use up my hard drive space for over 100 gigs of photos and videos. I can't see my thumbnails in the browser screen. I am using a 2014 Macbook pro. Any suggestions? Here is a screenshot.

Large files will take a long time to process for thumbnails. I see the background process is functioning. You might switch off background rendering so it's not constantly reddening clips in the timeline, relaunch the application, and wait for it to build this files.
Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem.....Only a few thumbnails are showing up....I moved all the files to my hard drive to avoid having to go to the external hard drive, and this still didn't work....I turned off background rendering, but still no luck.

TTry trashing your cache file.
I can't see my thumbnails....unless i hover over them any suggestions?
