A reliable way to backup photos from your iPhone?

Any candidates for a reliable way to backup photos from your iPhone?

I found out the hard way when I first switched from iPhone 4 to iPhone 6 that iCloud is NOT a

secure backup...

Unfortunately, unlike my old iPhone, the iPhone 6 doesn't behave like an external storage

device where I could just plug it in to my PC and move photos back and forth

I would really like to have a reliable way to make copies of my iPhone photos and store them

online as a backup in case of a lost phone

Did anyone test/compare the apps for PictureLife, DropBox, Photobucket etc to see how they

perform?
