Subtitles corrupt in iTunes

I rented a film (second time it happens, two different films) where the subtitles are appearing only partially, although the preview clearly shows all subtitles and the film has CC attribute.

Symptom: English subtitles appearing correctly for non-speech elements and the english language. Not appearing at all for the foreign language (although clearly existent in preview).
