iTunes library corrupt (Damaged) error

Hi, i was recently syncing my ipod with my itunes, but during this operation my interconnecting USB splitter my iPod and external hard drive (iTunes library location), are connected though failed, and now since when i open iTunes i get this message:

'The file 'i Tunes library.itl' does not appear to be a valid iTunes library file. iTunes has created a new iTunes library and renamed this file to 'Itunes Library (Damaged).itl'.

When iTunes open all my music is gone, but it is still in the same location it has always been F:iTunes/iTunesMedia. I can add the file to the library but as soon as I close and re-open iTunes it is all gone again.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing iTuns but this made no difference. Can anyone help me out please?
