why Mac stucks on geographical screensaver when I restart my computer during update?

I download latest iTunes but for me to complete the installation I need to update Mac OS.I download the latest update of my OS but the when it ask that I need to restart the computer in order to compete installation. But, when I restart it sticks in geographical screensaver. Is it normal ? And have to wait until it will open on start up menu? What will I do?
