I am having Air Port Utility 5.6.1 and Windows 10 issues. AP utility cannot find my base station. I even tried reinstalling. I have no problem finding it from my iPhone 6. No problems in win 7 or 8.1 Can anyone think of a reason why?
Well, unfortunately, one reason is that AirPort Utility for Windows was designed to work with the XP & 7 versions of Windows. It also does not support 802.11ac AirPort base stations. Apple has not updated the utility in quite some time and has not indicated when it will ... if at all.
You may still be able to use it administer your base station if you use the "Configure Other..." option from its menu bar, and then, enter the LAN-side IP address of the base station. Which by default, is 10.0.0.1.
Yes that is my IP also. I will try the other option. I realize it hasn't been updated for Windows since 2012. I was a Mac user until Jan. 2014.
Ok -- i tried the configure other option with the proper password. I got this message

FWIW. I just verified using the "Configure Other" option worked with my Mac mini. I am running Win10 under Parallels and was able to access each of my 802.11ac & 802.11n base stations. Again, I wouldn't use it for administering the "ac" models.
Once I fixed the IP address -- configure other works. I have a 4th gen extreme. I don't have AC yet.
You may need to temporarily disable Win10's software firewall to allow the AirPort Utility to access the base station.

I think the configure other option will suit my needs. The only thing I really do is change from Comcast DNS to Open DNS or vice versa.

I was finally able to get the utility to work straight up once I did a clean install of Windows 10
however I hope Apple updates it so that we can manage our aC routers without using an iOS device
