No, it's not supported.
See this document for details of which Windows versions are supported on each Mac:

Yes, if you use Virtualization engines like VMware, VirtualBox or Parallels and do not need native hardware access from Windows for CPU/GPU intensive work.
Sorry!
I should have made clear in my question that I was planning to install Windows 7 with BOOTCAMP on my MacPro6,1.
It's clear some wise and knowing Apple engineer knows better how I should use my computer than I. This is yet another Apple "do it my way or don't do it at all"!!!
You may be able to install W7 with BCA, but still use Bootcamp drivers. How big is the designated Windows 7 drive? Is it an internal drive?
1. Create partition using Disk Utility.
2. Create Hybrid MBR using GPT Fdisk.
3. Use an external Apple SuperDRive and use W7 DVD to boot from, and choose the partition from step 1 as the destination.
4. Windows requires 4-5 reboots. After each reboot, use Alt to point back to the Optical drive/DVD to complete the installation.
