I want to link my iPad to my MAC and have just installed Yosemite to assist this. I have also loaded iPhoto upgrader as advised. I can see my photos on my Mac but they are not on my iPad. I have connected my iPad to my Mac but still nothing.

have you started iphone or the new photo app and looked for the ipad there?
it should show up there when you launch the program
You need to sync the photos from the Mac to the iPad using iTunes. It does not happen automatically. Read this for the instructions.
