How to delete photos 'from mac' on iPhone 4s

I accidentally downloaded multiple of the same photos and albums from my mac to my phone. Now I am aware the only way to delete these is through iTunes on my computer, I started to delete them and my phone got unplugged from my laptop and when i plugged it back in it wouldn't delete any more of my photos and i am now stuck with over 500 duplicates does anyone know how to help me?
