How do I download flash drive data to my new Mac Mini?
Mac mini (Late 2014)
- Insert the USB flash drive into one of the Mac's USB ports.
- Open the Finder app and the USB flash drive should be listed under Devices on the left side. Click on it and and y will see the drive file system the right hand side. Navigate to wharer y wabnt to go and cop and paste files.
- A Mac can natively read the NTFS file system used for modern PCs. However, y need an app for a Mac to write to a NTFS formatted drive.
- If it does not appear in Finder does it appear in Disk Utility?

Your tutorial solved my problem; I can see/read the data on the flash drive. The next step, since their copies of slides taken while I was in the Navy, is to get them into iPhotos on a permanent basis. Thanx for the help!!!
Go to iPhotos (or Photos in 10.10.3 and later)> File>Import and select the photos to import them in to iPhoto/Photos.
When updating to 10.10.3 Apple replaced the the iPhoto app in the Dock with the Photos app. You can still access iPhoto by going to the Application folder.
Done. Thanx again for the help; it worked exactly as you described and would have taken "forever" if at all for me to figure out on my own. Dick
