black screen issue

Hey,

When I press the power button for my Mac book pro (from mid 2012) I am hearing the sound as if it is starting up but all I see is the light in front come on then it goes off shortly after. Then all I get is a black screen. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)
