Applescriptobjc Preferences

I was looking for a way to build some preferences into my application (OS X) I have seen some tutorials but they seem to always be setting iOS prefs, That interface is nice and clean and appears easy to use/manipulate. Can you get the same pref options/window on the OS X side? If not then how do I need to set preferences?
