Keyboard shortcuts pre-empted

I use a Macbook Pro. When inside the Final Cut Pro X application, one of my commands keeps getting pre-empted by what I believe to be an outside command. What happens is this: I press Control Command E to open the Final Cut exposure pane, and instead what happens in my computer opens the Evernote application from my dock. What can I do?
