This started several updates ago, & I keep hoping Apple will fix it. When my iBooks is set to night mode & I adjust the brightness as low as it will go, there is a section on one side of the screen that is brighter than the other side. The only way to make it even is to set the brightness a little bit higher than I prefer.
TThe onlyy thing I notice is that the screen may appear slightly brighter on the right side, but I think that may be because there are more words on that side and the left has the margins. Is it only happening in I books?
Yes, only in iBooks. It's not just the margin, it's about 1/4 of the screen on the left side.
Have you tried holding the sleep/wake and home button until the apple logo appears to see if that fixes the issue?
No. Should I do that while iBooks is open?
It doesn't matter it is a restart and no data will be lost.

I've done factory resets since this problem started occurring. Since this is the only app that does this (no problem in Nook, Kindle, or Kobo), I don't think it's a problem with the screen. Next time I'm going to be near an Apple Store, I'll make an appointment. Thank you for your time and suggestions, Questionasker3.

In case you haven't found this fix yet, it works perfectly. You'll have to do it again every time you turn the brightness back up, but it's a really easy fix and only takes two seconds:
