Can't play .mov videos recorded on iphone

I have been copying my iphone videos to a folder on my mac. I used to import to itunes, and I also used to be able to play them when they were stored in iPhoto. But now since I copy the files to a folder on my mac, they will not play in Quicktime. When I open them in Quicktime, it shows a photo but it shows zero playtime. When I click play it does nothing.

How can I play my videos again?

Thanks!

Len

The way I understand your post, the difference is not in QuickTime, but rather in your WorkFlow in transferring the movies.

  • with one sample iPhone video
    • import into iTunes = joy?
    • same WorkFlow to "store them in iPhoto" and play = joy?
  • HOW do you "... copy the files to a folder on [your] mac."? = this is the change from your previous joy, right?
    • select the sample file in this particular WorkFlow
    • Get Info - what are the file characteristics - in particular "duration"
