iMovie HD will not work with version OS X and I cannot get videos from Photos to iMovie 9.0.9. Can someone help?

Just wanted to see if it sent from iPhone. Also... Is there a way to get the new videos onto the old iPhotos program. I am missing a piece of information to get it all in order. iMovie '11 works ith all the older videos now stored in "all my files" but not with Photos? I cannot seem to get the new clips into "all my files" so I can get then into iMovie '11. Thank you!
After plating around I have found that if I take the clip from photos and put it onnthe deck top to let it become a file I can then drag it to an iMovie file and it will open then? Why does this need to happen?
