Looking for a 60s / 70's reverb sound

Hello,

I am new to Logic express and I am having trouble finding a reverb sound that sounds right to me. I feel the reverb plug-ins available within logic express are perhaps too sophisticated, ie room modelling reverbs, and so I guess I am looking for a 60’s and 70’s reverb sound, would that be a plate reverb?

Has anyone had any success getting that type of reverb sound out of any of the plug-ins that come with Logic express or are there any plug-ins you would recommend I look to purchase?

Many thanks,

Chris.

Hi

Thanks for replying. Logic Express has the following reverb plugins; AVerb, SilverVerb, GoldVerb, and PlatinumVerb, I think this is the same as Logic Pro except that logic Pro has Space designer as well.

AVerb is the simplest but like the rest, sounds digital and metallic, which unfortunately does not lend itself to what I’m doing. I have played with the various presets but just can’t get close to what I have in my head.

I fear the answer possibly lies in finding the right plug-in but really don’t know where to start looking.

Thanks,

Chris.

I have also found the AU Matrix is the best reverb on there. It has a good transparency and is usefull when you need to get the sound away from the speaker. The fact is you will not get any decent plug-in reverb. Especially if you are looking for an older sounding one. I have recently bought a Lexicon MPX500 outboard reverb unit and it is the best thing I have bought. It has endless amounts of presets and parameters to change.
Buy one. dont bother with plug-ins. They are rubbish.

Hi,

Many thanks for the replies, I have to confess that I hadn’t found Apple’s AU MatrixReverb until you mentioned it and I went looking, I had assumed the stereo plug-ins were just stereo varieties of the mono plug-ins.

But, I have to admit that the plug-in that has got me closest to the sound I am looking for is Magnus’ Ambience thanks for the suggestion Jope. I will spend the weekend playing around with it and see how it goes. I thought I’d also look at the PSP vintage reverb plug that frequent popsicle suggests.

Many thanks again,

Chris
