Can I connect my MacBook Air (2015) to an external display OTHER than the Apple Thunderbolt Display?

I recently bought myself a 13.3" MacBook Air and I was considering getting an external display. However, I cannot afford the Apple Thunderbolt Display or an iMac, so, is there any way for me to connect the MacBook to a monitor other than one made by Apple?

Thanks,

Chris

Of course. The Thunderbolt port can also be used by a Mini DisplayPort adapter, which lets you plug your Mac to most displays or televisions. For example, there are Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters to connect your Mac to a HD display, Mini DisplayPort to DVI/VGA, etc.

(Most of those adapters are made by Apple, but you can get third-party adapters too).
