Changing registration from one account to another

My son has an iPod touch which we originally registered under my husbands Apple ID. We now have family sharing and would like to assign the iPod to my sons Apple ID instead. Can this be done? And I assume that his games won't be lost- they will be under my husbands account for sharing correct?

He needs to sign out of his fathers Apple ID in each of the settings for iCloud, iTunes & App Store, messages, FaceTime and Books and then sign into each of those service is with his own ID.

Yes he should be able to continue to use is fathers apps through family sharing.
