Using time machine to restore mac desktop

Due to white screen problems at the startup, i had to restore my drive using time machine. I was able to restore from a few hours ago. Does this mean i will loose all of my files? Or will my mac be restored back to what it was earlier today?

Assuming your computer does not have a hardware issue, TM will restore everything that was stored at the time of the backup date/time. .

Thank you so much! So I'll still have all my photos and applications etc.?

Yes, assuming your computer has no hardware problems everything will be restored. One good thing about backing up is even if the computer has failed (I am hoping it is not hardware) then when you replace the computer you can restore all of your old data.
