It sounds as though you're unable to send email from your iPad. The message that you're seeing indicates that there may be an incorrect setting for the affected mail account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. It may help to remove the affected account and re-add it. Steps to do so, as well as additional troubleshooting, can be found in the article linked below.
