how do i get my iMessage texts to not come through on my new mac?

Every time i get a text on my phone that iMessage it comes through on my new mac book air. i want to stop that from happening but i don't know how to get it to stop.

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)

On Your iPhone, go to Settings->Messages->Text Message Forwarding and turn off the switch next to your Mac's name.


This will stop SMS from being sent to the Mac.


If you want to stop all messages including SMS and iMessages from being received on the Mac, then on the Mac open Messages, click on the Messages menu at the top, then on Preferences, then Accounts (if not already selected), then on your Apple ID, and then on Sign Out.
