Music not "loading" on my phone

folks,

I have just unwisely updated from IOS7 to 8.4 - and found the already annoying mic app replaced by apple music, wiping out anything that I had on there in the first place. also, when I tap the music app, it brings up the lovely pink Music screen..... and nothing else. no buttons, and any amount of tapping does nothing. I have disabled the "show apple music" option in settings>music, but I cannot get back to just seeing my library. I am on itunes match.

any advice? its just like the music screen is locked.
