Can I replace 128GB SSD (inside my Macbook Pro Retina 2014-mid) to a 256GB SSD getting from other 2014-mid or even 2013-late MacBook Pro Retina?

My Macbook Pro Retina(2014-mid) is the entry level notebook with only 128GB SSD. Now the 128GB storage is inadequate for me. I need extra spaces to install several huge-size softwares. So can I replace my 128GB SSD to a 256GB SSD getting from other 2014-mid or even 2013-late MacBook Pro Retina?

If this cannot be doable. I wonder can I install softwares on external SSD?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), I use Win7 as well

No. They are not upgradeable. You can store anything you want on an external drive.

Thanks, so can I install some softwares on the external sad? BTW, I am also using windows7 on the macbook pro and I need to install those softwares on win7 operating system.

Yes, you can do that. If you install them for Windows, then be sure you have a sufficiently large enough Boot Camp partition for both Windows and these large programs.

Question.. would it be possible to dual boot through this rather than on the memory present on the machine? Anybody else done this?
