Q: Paired Bluetooth Headset Priority

I have a bluetooth headset paired to my iPhone and it is also paired to my car audio system. iOS version 8.4 on a 6 Plus.

How do I keep iOS from automatically switching between them? iOS seems to take a 'use the last device connected' approach where as other phones I have used would keep the first device connected until it was turned off.

Here is what happens - I connect my bluetooth headset and start a call. I go get in my car with the call still in progress and start it. My iPhone sees the car audio and connects to it. BUT - the car audio is not good always able to pick up a bluetooth call in progress - and even if it does, the mute is off and so the other person hears all the noise in my car until I can get it muted.

The same thing happens in reverse - If I have the car bluetooth connected and accidentally turn on my headset, my car stereo goes off and now my call transfers to the bluetooth headset.

Is there any way to force my iPhone to keep the first headset connection it gets and not switch automatically? Or at least set a priority so that it picks headset in a priority order? This is very annoying since I am in and out of the car all day and on the phone a lot and calls just seem to float all over the place.

It's even worse for me.  Here's what happened.  I was in my home office on a conference call using my headset.  My wife pulled in the driveway and suddenly I could not hear anything on the conference call.  She later told me that she suddenly heard my conference call in the car.  At the time, I did not know what was going on and I assumed the call dropped.  I called into the conference call again.  Thankfully I was not speaking at the time.
