Video download conversion issues...

Recently I've noticed that when i download a video from a site, Safari automatically converts and saves the file as .flv (flash). Whether i save directly to my macbook or choose the "save as" option, it still converts files i download such as .mp4 into .flv. How can i change this? Thanks...

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Might be a Safari extension or third party add-on.

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
