halting podcast app on ipod touch

Since updating to iOS 8.4, the podcast app on ipod touch 4g halts at random

but regular times. Sometimes, the podcast can be resumed after some

tapping thru the app; other times, it seems like the app is hopeless and it has to

be killed and restarted (sometimes this is true of the device).

When the app resumes, it seems to be a little behind where it actually played.

It doesn't seem to matter whether the ipod is hooked to earphones or bluetooth,

or whether any of the 1x, 1.5x, 2x speeds are used, halting will still happen.

This doesn't happen on the music app. This will play fine.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to address it?

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Delete and reinstall the PodCast app

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I did most of this.

Removing podcast app is, unfortunately, impossible

(or I would' ve long ago rid myself of this bad app for

other reasons). But the device has been reset & reinstalled

a couple different ways now, & it works just as poorly.

I'm now convinced it's the podcast app. The music app doesn't

have this problem.

Probably need a 3rd party replacement for the ios podcast

app that has the critical functionality - 1.5x or 2x speed compatible

with bluetooth (some aren't), ability to understand itunes playlists.
