How do you close a password protected .dmg

I have created a password protected file [.dmg] and then tested opening it with my password, but now I am not sure how to close it. Do I eject it? I was afraid to do that and lose all my information.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

You eject it. Unless you've lost the password, you won't lose anything on it.
