I have some old pictures on two camera cards. I have a Zio card reader that I used with them in years gone by. I would like to use the card reader to download the pictures to my OS 10.10 computer. What do I need to do?

Do you have your Finder Preferences set to show external disks on your desktop? Finder > Preferences > General > make sure everything is checked to show. If that does not work, then I would guess that you need a new card reader - older ones were not fast enough to transfer today's larger files.
Also, please update your profile - it still shows you're using 10.5.8.
